Upgrading Issues – PaintShop Pro (64 bit) no longer supporting KPT PlugIns
A while back I upgraded from PaintShop Pro X5 (32 bit) to PaintShop Pro X6 (64 bit).
Just yesterday I noticed that the KPT PlugIns that I used to use for photo adjustment effects are no longer listed under PlugIns in PaintShop Pro X6.
I launched my old X5 version and sure enough they were listed.
After some fiddling under preferences setting as to which directory they should be located in, I still hadn’t found the solution.
I checked the FAQ at the Corel website and could find no mention of it. I did eventually find a Q&A log where others had reported the same problem, but no sensible answers had been forthcoming.
Eventually on a product listing on the Corel website in tiny letters, I found confirmation that KPT plugin are not supported in PaintShop Pro X6 (64 bit).
The lesson is, that when these software vendors try to get you to upgrade they tell what new features they have added, but not what they have taken away.
In future I will be testing new versions of all my software tools more extensively before I pay to upgrade them.
